Basic Rigging

For this assignment I chose the Brute character to rig. I added the joints and named them appropriate following a hierarchy. I then binded the skin with the skeleton system. I spent a lot of time painting weights. The root had influence of a lot of the joints. I removed that and made sure the skin moved properly while moving the bones.

I then added controls and made sure to freeze transformation on them. I matched transforms of the controls with the joints and froze transforms again. I then parented the controls to follow the hierarchy. Finally, I constrained the controls to the joints and made the character move by the controls.

Intro to Blueprints

For my Blueprints project, I created a door that opens based of plyer interaction. I developed a door Blueprint that allows the player to open and close the door by pressing the E key. The door detects which side of it the player is standing on and automatically opens in the opposite direction, preventing the door from hitting the player.

I also created the functional elevator Blueprint that lifts the player from the first floor to the second floor.

In addition, I incorporated the Blueprints created in class into my scene. These included the rotating teapot with a glowing rim and smoke effect, as well as the skull with glowing eyes. I positioned and integrated these interactive elements into the environment to enhance the scene.

This is my first time working with blueprint. I had a lot of challenges in setting it up and getting it to work. I have tried my best.

Basic Lighting & Materials

TechArt HW3 - Lighting Basics

For this assignment, I focused on creating a warm sunset environment and setting up lighting in one of the houses in this scene.

I then added environment lighting and adjusted the scene to create a sunset atmosphere using the Environment Light Mixer. I also added Post Process Volume.

I built walls for the open house in the scene to add to the structure of the environment.

I then added lighting to the hanging lamps placed throughout the scene.

I migrated assets from a Fantasy House Pack to set up a dining table scene and a fireplace in one of the houses. I created a candle flame material using a texture image, added movement to the flame and attached it to the candle on the table. I added a color parameter to the material. Then I created various material instances from the flame material and adjusted its color to fit the scene.
